My 22nd Birthday! || March 2017

Hi Loves,

Today is my birthday! Unfortunately, today I also found out that I have strep throat, so I figured that while I’m sitting at home (watching Moana, because, why not) I thought that I’d share 22 things that I have learned!

  1. To not take life too seriously, go with the flow! Life changed every day, so getting upset if something doesn’t work out just isn’t worth it. Everything happens for a reason.
  2. Always go after your dreams, whether you think that they are impossible or not. You most likely will regret not giving it a shot in the future.
  3. Don’t be scared or ashamed to ask for help, you can’t do everything by yourself, and who knows, maybe someone will give you eye-opening advice.
  4. Have a close knit group of friends, I have two very close friends in college along with a large group of friends/acquaintances. I found that the quality of friendship is way more important than the quantity of friends.
  5. Don’t waste time on things that don’t make you happy, because it just isn’t worth it. Time is precious, so only do things that you know will make you happy or benefit you in the long run.
  6. Time management is key, this is a lesson that I have learned time and time again. Procrastination is not beneficial, and will overall stress you out more. Planning time efficiently will allow you some time to breathe.
  7. Don’t worry about what other people think, because the only opinion that matters is your own. If you want to go out without makeup, do it! Haven’t washed your hair in a week, throw it into a messy bun! More than likely, people are worrying about themselves just as much as you are and won’t even notice!
  8. Always carry an “emergency” kit with you, this is a life saver! I always carry a Tide To Go Pen, some Motrin, extra hair ties, lady products, hand sanitizer and gum with me everywhere I go because you never know when you’ll need it!
  9. Treat yo self! You want that donut, you have it! You want to go on a mini shopping spree, do it! You want to watch Moana five times in a row, watch it (or is that just me?)!
  10. Have a 5 year plan, as a flexible guideline. It is important to want to know where you’re planning on being in the future, but also know that things change, so don’t set anything in stone!
  11. Travel as much as you can, I have been starting to do this one, because once you finish school and enter the “real world” there are less opportunities. And lets be honest, traveling is fun!
  12. Take care of your skin, because having beautiful healthy skin when you are 80 is worth it more than having tan skin now.
  13. Don’t gossip, trust me, it always comes back to bite you in the butt. It just isn’t worth being in the middle of someone else’s drama.
  14. Tell those that are close to you that you love them, because it’s just nice to hear and be reminded of. You never know what tomorrow will bring, and telling someone you love them is just a kind thing to do to those who have done so much for you.
  15. Always be kind, to strangers and even to enemies. Killing people with kindness is the best kind of “revenge” because you are creating a better life for yourself and showing those people that they do not have a hold on you. As for strangers, the amount of times that I have just smiled at someone and have gotten smiles in response, just makes you feel warm and happy on the inside.
  16. Try new things, don’t let fear dictate your life. Afraid to get a tattoo that you really want? Go and get it, because more than likely you will not regret it. I love going to new places and restaurants that I have not been to to learn about new things.
  17. Take time for yourself, feel like your life is zooming by? Stop, and take a deep breath. You don’t want to miss out on what life has to bring.
  18. College really isn’t that scary, trust me. Going into freshman year I was terrified, and now, 4 years later I am writing this as a senior about to graduate in 2 months, letting you know that it flies by, and as long as you take it seriously, there is nothing to be scared of!
  19. Your phone is not your lifeline, this took me a while to learn. Your friends and family are your lifeline. Within the past year, I have learned to not be so attached to my phone and to not check the newest social media update every five minutes. Take time and unplug either by your self or with others!
  20. Friends will come and go, Although you want to keep all your friends throughout your life, which in some cases you might, but in reality some of those long term friendships dissolve over time. At first, I was hurt when this started happening, but then I realized that that is just part of life, and that people enter and exit your life for a reason. Don’t think that you did anything wrong though, people just change and grow apart; it’s natural.
  21. Get enough sleep, staying up until 3 in the morning to study or binge watch Friends or Gossip Girl on Netflix might seem like a good idea at the time, but let me tell you, it just is not worth it. I like to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night (which is still under the “norm” but hey, no one’s perfect).
  22. Always be uniquely and beautifully you, Don’t let others try and change you, don’t conform to norms or trends. You will be much happier later in life if you be true to yourself rather than trying to bury who you really are under what other people want you to be!

I hope you all enjoyed reading this! Let me know in the comments below when your birthdays are!
